Fishing Adventures on Days Out Bay of Islands

You wont have to go far in the Bay of Islands at this time of year, snapper have been cruising and feeding up close in the shallows including in the upper harbor. A few places worth an early morning fish has to start with the Brampton Reef, this is a long reef that runs from the corner of Waitangi to the entrance of the Kemp Passage which is a hard reef area that holds a lot of good sized snapper especially coming into winter. Roberton Island and the inside weed beds have lots of pan snapper with the odd bigger fish hanging around. Make a good burly trail to get them on the chew. The kingfish are in good numbers around all of the local spots with some bigger fish turning up at the outer reefs, 71 mtr) and Cape Brett. The live bait have been hard to catch but there have been some over towards Kemp Passage.

Check out some of our fishing adventures in the Bay of Islands on board Days Out Fishing Charters.

Brampton Reef sounds like the best spot for early morning snapper — I've been casting off the point for months. https://3d-ai-generator.com

Brampton Reef sounds like an incredible spot for snapper! I've been using the early morning hours to fish the shallows, and the snapper really do cruise right up close in the upper harbor. https://image-to-3d.com
